mr. & mrs. stout {celebration newlywed photographer}

internet, i’d like you to meet annie & chris. i was lucky enough to be introduced to them through friends a few months ago, and they’re always so much fun to be around. they’re always so happy when they’re together, and though they just got married and have taken tons of photos recently, they wanted to do something a little bit different. they loved their engagement photos but felt that the shots, while beautiful, didn’t show their personalities or how much fun they have together. to remedy this, they contacted me and we headed to downtown celebration to run around, have some fun, and take some photos. you’d never guess from the pictures that on the say we decided on, it was cold and super windy. they’re definitely troopers, and i thank them for that. i think the photos look like it could be summer, and you can absolutely tell how much they love being around each other.

annie and chris: thank you so much for letting me drag you around in the freezing wind, for making silly faces, and for not freaking out too much about that spider-in-the-grass incident. you guys are awesome!

We absolutely adore these photos you took. I’m positive no one else could come close to capturing this much fun on camera. We thank you again so much. Even though we were there for the purpose of taking pictures, we had a blast just hanging out with you and running around Celebration. You rock!

Annie – I told you this the other night, but I’m so glad you two love the photos! I can’t wait to shoot your bridal portraits…we have to pick a date soon! <3

sorcerers of the magic kingdom

if you’re a central floridian or a disney nerd, you may have heard of the new game at magic kingdom. if you haven’t it’s called Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, and it’s a lot more fun than i thought it would be! i knew we would enjoy it if only for the aspect of collecting the spell cards (there are 70 in total, and you can get 5 per day – and they’re included with your park admission, making them the only free collectible disney gives out!), which are all gorgeous. once we got our first sets of cards and played through one ‘mission,’ i realized we’d be spending quite a bit more time at the magic kingdom than we used to.

if you want to try out the game for yourself, they’re ‘testing’ it every day from around 1pm to park close. you start at the fire house, where a key card is attached to whatever card admits you to the park – room key, annual pass, paper ticket, cast member id, etc – and you’re given your first 5 cards. the attendent will also give you a demonstration of how the game works, and then you’re off to whatever destination the game assigns to you. you also get a map of all the locations to help you find them. they actually blend in pretty well, even when you know what you’re looking for.

casting spells and fighting villains as you go, the portals will lead you to your next destination until you’ve defeated the ‘boss’ villain of that mini-storyline. we went to four portals and spent about 30 minutes to finish one mission. it was a lot of fun, and as someone who is fascinated by imagineering, it was nice to have time to take a closer look at the cards and portals. if you think you’d enjoy doing something a little bit different at the magic kingdom the next time you’re there, stop by the firehouse. you can find more information on the disney parks blog. this is a great activity for annual passholders who want to spend time at the parks but are looking for something new to do, and i’m sure kids will be begging their parents to take them to the firehouse every day of their trip for new cards. i know we’ll be going back a few days next week to add to our collections!

I am so excited to snag some cards and start this! *squee

it’s really fun, we all have to go together some time! if you want to start collecting cards, i’d start doing so asap, because the word is that when the game goes ‘live,’ you might not get free cards outside of the first five any more. not sure how true it is, but it’s something to think about. it’s supposed to go live on the 22nd.

also, i love that you’ve become my #1 blog fan! i need to bake you some cookies or something :)

I happened upon your blog because of this post and one of the first pictures I see is of Channing, who I used to work with at Universal. What a small world!

Love the blog and pictures.

Hi Craig! Thank you so much for commenting. When did you work with Channing? I’ll have to tell him you found the blog & left a comment.

emily rambles: happy valentine’s day!

happy valentine’s day, everyone! channing and i are celebrating by having a cheesy night at medieval times, but i thought i’d post a few valentine’s day tips here (and more ideas & inspiration – plus credits for all of these images – are on my valentine’s pinterest board).

1. dress up! a little bit, anyway. if there was ever a day to get pretty and feel fancy for no real reason, valentine’s day is it. i love whimsical fashion (think zooey deschanel), so why not throw on some pink tights, or a dress inspired by the most popular valentine’s motif?

2. snuggle! if you’re spending the day with that special someone, one of the best ways to show them you care is by showing them a little bit of physical attention. even if you’re not the type to hold hands in public or be mushy, a little bit of snuggling goes a long way to show what a card or flowers might not be able to.

3. be yourself! just because the media/the card companies/big business/cupid/whoever has an opinion about how you should be spending valentine’s day, or what you should be giving or getting or eating or drinking – you don’t have to do any of those things! don’t adhere to “tradition” if you don’t want to. you & your significant other will enjoy the day more if you’re being yourselves and having fun, rather than doing something you don’t really want to. if you don’t like chocolate, or stuffy dinners, or the color red – don’t sweat it!

and my runner up tip…something yummy never really goes amiss! i like silly or unique treats, though, so here i two i thought were perfect for today: anatomically correct heart cookies (i used to make these for valentine’s day back in high school) & red wine lollipops (mad with port wine, channing’s favorite).

no matter what you’re doing today, or who you’re spending it with, happy valentine’s day!

coming up next on the blog is the full post of annie and chris’s newlywed session in downtown celebration.
