living social f.a.q.

my living social deal is going to be live until this coming sunday (the 18th), and i’ve gotten a lot of emails, facebook messages, and phone calls with some very good questions. i’m answering everyone individually, but just in case, i thought i should post the answers to the most frequently asked questions on my blog, too.

q. what’s your availability like right now?
a.  if you’d like to schedule your session for as soon as possible, your best option is a weekday evening (or early morning). if you’re interested in weekends only, you’ll need to start looking further into the calendar, starting towards the end of may. of course, i do have some random openings here and there, so the best thing to do is send me an email (or use the contact forms here, on my website, or on facebook) so we can look at upcoming dates together and figure out what is best for you.

q. what should we wear?
a. my primary response to this is “whatever you feel comfortable (and pretty!) in.” i want you to look like your normal selves, and you’ll feel more relaxed in front of the camera if you’re not constantly worried about some crazy outfit you decided to wear that you aren’t comfortable in. that being said, here are my tips about choosing outfits for your session:
+ do coordinate, don’t match. stay in one color family, but don’t feel restricted. having different shades of similar (or complimentary) colors looks better in photos than everyone wearing the exact same shirt.
+ layers, textures, and patterns are your friend. mix it up! plus, with layers, you can instantly change the look of your outfit just by removing a sweater, scarf, jacket, etc.
+ details, details, details! this is the time to show off that awesome statement necklace/pair of shoes/rad headband that you love but never get to wear.
i also recommend checking out this blog post by laci davis photography – she has some great examples!

q. what location should we use?
a. this all depends on you! the first two things i ask when trying to help clients choose a location are: where do you live (or where are you staying, for out-of-towners), and what kind of location are you looking for? do you want something funky and urban, or do you want a lot of scenic views and greenery? or a combination of both? is there somewhere special to you that we can use? i love when a location has meaning for a client. also, i try to always choose a location that is as convenient to my client as possible, but for this livingsocial deal, all locations need to be within 30 miles of celebration. that still gives us a pretty large area, so if you need help narrowing it down, i’d be glad to assist you!

so those are the most frequently asked questions as of right now, but of course if you have any others – or want to discuss anything in detail with me – feel free to contact me! you can also read more about the deal on this blog post. i’m so excited to meet everyone who has contacted me so far, and i can’t wait to get emails from the rest of you!

living social deal information!

yes, that’s right…e. gilbert photography is doing a deal on livingsocial!
 {eta: the deal is now live right here!}
if you don’t know anything about livingsocial, this is how it works:

1. Each day, we send you one deeply discounted deal to use at local businesses. Sign up to get our daily email. 2. Purchase our daily deals with one easy click. You will receive a link to your voucher the next business day. It’s that simple!”

so, on the day of the deal, anyone in the south orlando area will be able to go on livingsocial’s website and purchase a deal on an e. gilbert photography package. you don’t have to be subscribed to their emails to see, share, or purchase the deal (but they do have great coupons, and as a past purchaser, i totally recommend signing up. they even have a smartphone app!).

when is the deal running?
the deal will start running on monday the 12th at 5am, and run until sunday the 18th. you’ll want to book your session as soon as you buy your voucher – sessions are booked on a first come, first served basis, and i will not be taking any vouchers after september 19th of this year. that means your session has to be on or before september 19th, 2012.

what does the package include?
the package will be an hour of portrait photography – engagements, families, seniors, whatever you’d like! – and a CD with 25 fully edited photos (along with the rights to them). you’ll be able to purchase the package at a steep discount; the entire cost to purchasers will be $50. yes, that’s right, only $50 for an hour of portrait photography and a fully edited disc of your images!

what happens when i purchase the deal?
+ if you decide to purchase the deal, you’ll pay livingsocial directly.
+ you’ll then call or email me to schedule your session – i’ll be accepting the coupons until september of 2012, but you need to schedule you session as soon as you can after you purchase the deal – all appointments are subject to availability.
+ once we’ve scheduled your appointment, i’ll email you a contract to sign and return to me, guaranteeing you your session date and time. all of the sessions will be on location as decided by the client (don’t worry, i’ll help you pick a location!).
+ you’ll give me your coupon at the session, and within eight weeks i’ll mail you your edited CD. all of your photos will also be uploaded to my proofing gallery if you’d like to purchase prints from me. if you’re interested in buying any additional products from me, we can work together to choose the right prints, albums, or canvases for you. you will also have the option of adding supplemental images onto your CD at additional cost to the deal.

what style of photography do you do?
if you’re unfamiliar with my work but you might be interested in purchasing the deal, i recommend checking out some of my previous blog posts to get an idea of what my sessions are like. i shoot casual, fun photos, and i don’t do a lot of “traditional,” pose-y photos. i’d rather capture what you’re really like! to see what i mean, check out these blog posts:
+ mr. and mrs. stout {newlywed session}
+ the a. family {family session}
+ jenn and doug {engagement session}
+ lindsay {senior portraits, class of ’12}
