hi blog! i know, it’s been a while – and yes, i realize i’ve said that in all of my posts recently. life gets crazy sometimes, what can i say?
as you can tell from the title of this post, these lovely people are steph & gene. i met steph my freshman year of college – we lived in the same dorm and became friends almost instantly. i had a fantastic group of friends in college, and i know that i’m lucky to count her as one of them – steph is always smiling or joking around, and it’s impossible to have a bad time when you’re around her. gene didn’t go to our school, and a majority of the time we were still in school their relationship was long distance-ish, but whenever he did come to see her, it was always fantastic. when they finally got engaged, i jumped at the chance to go visit them in south carolina to take their engagement photos, and i’m so glad we got to spend time together after what feels like forever. (did we really graduate three years ago? how is that possible???)
as a bonus, i also got to spend time with their dogs! anyone who knows me knows that i’m a dog person, and i hadn’t seen orly (on the right side) since graduation either! orly was actually supposed to be a guiding eyes dog, and i remember when she was just a puppy…it was so much fun to have a dog in the dorm with us, even if it meant scooping poop in two feet of snow. their other dog, roxy (on the left), is just as adorable as orly, and so sweet, too.
though we took a few photos in downtown greenville the first night i was in town, we took most of their photos in clemson, which is where they actually live. steph wanted to take photos in two specific places – this first location is actually where gene proposed, and it’s not only gorgeous, but it’s also where they spend a lot time together, so it’s pretty meaningful, too.
you can actually see the other location we went to later in the background of these shots – it’s clemson’s football stadium.
as we were leaving, i saw this little wooded area and had to use it for some shots. plus, when steph found that pinecone on the ground, she needed a shot of her ring on it!
after a totally not illegal at all entrance to the stadium (seriously, there was an open gate, totally not illegal!), they did a quick outfit change. steph had shirts made with their married name and wedding date, which was perfect for their save-the-dates. they actually ended up using the shot i posted as their preview here on the blog for their save-the-dates, they came out so cute!
if you don’t know, clemson’s logo is a pawprint, and everything in town is orange. everything. literally. if it’s not orange, it’s covered in paw prints. the parking spaces in parking lots have their lines painted in orange instead of white. the atm at the bank has paw prints leading up to it. i have never seen so much school or team spirit anywhere, and it was fantastic! steph & gene never miss a game – we even ended up watching one my last night in town – so it was really awesome to be able to sneak into the stadium and get so many shots for them.
guys, i can not wait for your wedding! july needs to come faster! thank you so much for bringing me up to south carolina to hang out, we need to see each other more often. ♥
[…] can i even say about this couple & this weekend? i talked at length about these two in their engagement session post, but just in case you didn’t know: steph is one of my best friends from college, and gene is […]
