las vegas {family vacation photographer}

long time no see! sadly, i haven’t had a lot of content for the blog recently, though hopefully i’ll be able to post not one, but TWO new weddings as soon as i get the go-ahead from the amaaaaazing photographers i’ve been assisting.

for now, though, he’s a look at my family’s recent trip to lovely las vegas for my little brother’s twenty-first birthday (oh my god, i’m old).

as many times as i’ve been to las vegas, we’ve always missed this sign. i’m so glad i’ve finally seen it in person, even it was only for a minute! now i just need to get to the neon graveyard…someday.

my dad reserved two tables in the mandalay bay poker room one of our trip days for a family poker tournament. i didn’t play (poker’s not really my game), but i had a lot of fun taking pictures of everyone.

of course my brother won the whole tournament, not to mention the rest of the money he won during the trip. he is a charmed boy.

enough poker, here are some shots from the rest of the trip…

las vegas is so full of gorgeous color. i love being able to post photos straight-out-of-camera, without playing with the colors.

there’s no photoshop trickery involved in that last one; it’s just two photos with black backgrounds next to each other that happen to look mad cool that way. also, if you couldn’t tell, my 50m f/1.4 didn’t leave my camera the whole trip. i think i have a problem.

A problem?! You have a good thing going if you keep a single lens on! 🙂

I re-learned how to play poker the other week and this makes me want to play more! (Calling the bluff on an 11-year old, numerous times, was probably why I loved it so much.) Anyways, great photos, Emily. Loving the logo inclusion too.

I guess the real problem is that I now want more prime lenses…whoops.

The new logo was kind of an accident, but I love it, so I’m going to have to start a re-design of everything, slowly but surely.

andrew & jayme {celebration engagement photographer}

if you read my blog, you’ll remember andrew and jayme from their preview. they were not only super adorable, but also tons of fun to shoot, including finishing their shoot up, as promised, in the fountains of downtown celebration. here are just some of my favorite shots from our trip through town:
